Matt Groening and David X. Cohen's Futurama has accrued 150 episodes -- with more on the way -- across three separate networks. The animated comedy may have initially been perceived as a futuristic sci-fi riffing version of The Simpsons. However, Futurama has gradually developed its own identity through outlandish characters, a rich universe, and thought-provoking storylines that cleverly hold a mirror up to society, even if the series is set 1000 years in the future.
