The comic book industry has borrowed from a range of source material since its inception, ranging from classic literature to real events. However, one of the most common places for publishers to look for stories is Hollywood, and many independent publishers built their reputation through comic sequels to movies. In fact, some of the most iconic movies and TV shows ever made, from Star Wars to Godzilla, have thriving continuations in comics. Some properties go even further, and actually had some of their greatest stories told in comic books, with a lackluster performance on the big screen.
