About Alyx Maglio
Alyx is a long time gamer and fan of anime who grew up playing video games with her father in their New York kitchen. Alyx has spent most of her career in education and her students think it is incredibly cool that she writes for CBR, often choosing to ask her about her anime opinions free recs and to see if she will share her Crunchyroll account. They have yet to succeed in the latter endeavor, but she has taught all of them how to play Civilization VI.
Industry Focus
Alyx began working for CBR in 2022 with a main focus in retro gaming and has since expanded into anime and manga as well. Her focus mainly is in regards to the literary construction and influences in media, along with how the past impacts the future of gaming.
Favorite Media
Retro isometric RPGs basically run in Alyx's blood. She also loves shonen anime like My Hero Academia, Yu Yu Hakusho, Dragon Ball, and many others. She has recently expanded into donghua as well as other forms of media. Baldur's Gate III continues to be her main video game addiction but with many new games looming in the next year, only time will tell what the next hyper-focus will be.
