A somber yet triumphant tale of the consequences of war and the resilience of humanity, Godzilla Minus One is the tale of a disgraced kamikaze pilot, Koichi Shikishima, as he deals with his shame and guilt in the immediate aftermath of Japan's loss in WWII. He finds a new purpose in life caring for a fellow war survivor and an orphaned baby, disposing of bombs at sea with a ragtag team of shipmates -- including Dr. Noda, a former weapons engineer, and Yoji, a grizzled war veteran turned captain. When he, his new crewmates, his makeshift family, and even the entirety of Japan are left behind by their government, once again facing impending destruction -- this time in the form of the terrifying, atomic-breathing legendary monster, Godzilla -- Shikishima must join forces with his crew and a makeshift army of veterans and citizens to fight for their future.
