The Pokémon franchise is still going strong over 25 years since its inception back in the late 1990s, thanks to the games and anime working in tandem to create a larger community known and celebrated worldwide. Pokémon is a bigger phenomenon than both the anime or game series individually, but they have inspired and excited kids and adults alike for years now. The games generally come first before their anime counterparts, but while the anime does build on or deviate away from many of the games' storylines, later editions and generations of the games do still have plenty of anime references for true fans to enjoy.
