The Blue Oyster Cult song "Godzilla" perfectly epitomizes the destruction that the colossal kaiju wrought whenever he appears on screen, as he wades through the buildings toward the town center with bug-eyed people helplessly screaming. Whether portrayed as a natural calamity or as an allegory for man-made disasters, Godzilla destroys everything indiscriminately in his path. Yet, standing at the precipice of doom, one cannot but feel the awe in the wrath of God.
