After a sprawling fourth season that had a tough time resolving all its disparate plot threads, FX's Fargo returns to a more contained cast and story for its new fifth season. The anthology series also returns to a setting essentially in the present day, with a story that takes place in Minnesota and North Dakota in 2019. Creator Noah Hawley's riff on the Coen brothers' 1996 film Fargo has proven unexpectedly durable. While there are fewer surprises in the tone and format of Fargo's fifth season, there's still plenty in the six episodes available for review to keep viewers interested.
